The Longhorns will begin their 2025 campaign on the gridiron away from home in a highly anticipated matchup at Ohio State on Aug. 30. The 2025 opener at Darrell K Royal—Texas Memorial Stadium will take place one week later on Sept. 6 against San Jose State.

It's been almost 20 years since the Texas Longhorns defeated the USC Trojans in the Rose Bowl to win the 2005 national championship, and in the process, cement their place among college football's all-time great teams.

On Friday afternoon the Texas Longhorns continued to receive good news on the recruiting front. La Salle High School star Grayson McKeogh narrowed his list down to three schools and included Texas. The other schools to make the cut were Penn State and Notre Dame.

Currently, the Longhorns 2026 class includes Dia Bell, Chris Stewart, Jermaine Bishop, Yaheim Riley, and Trott O'Neal. That is already a talented group that would get a boost with Clay in the mix. He also would not be a bad weapon for Dia Bell to have at his disposal.
