According to Nielsen’s time-zone adjusted data, the awards show drew 4.85 million viewers for CBS. That is up from 3.53 million in 2024, an increase of approximately 38%. That is also the largest audience for the Tonys since 2019, when the telecast that year nabbed 5.4 million viewers.

Maybe Happy Ending won Best Musical and five other trophies Sunday to lead the 78th annual Tony Awards, and Purpose was named Best Play at Radio City Music Hall in New York. Eureka Day took the top prizes at the 2025 Tony Awards. The Cynthia Erivo-hosted ceremony also saw Sarah Snook, Cole Escola, Darren Criss and Nicole Scherzinger win the lead acting awards for plays (Snook and Escola) and musicals (Criss and Scherzinger).
