Emergency management directors with the National Weather Service Charleston will hold a briefing Tuesday regarding changes to flash flooding event criteria.

A flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 2:59 p.m. in effect until 6 p.m. for Baker and Malheur counties.

The National Weather Service urged people to avoid travel if a flash flood warning was in place for their area.

A t 9:52 a.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service released an updated coastal flood advisory valid from 7 p.m. until Tuesday midnight. The advisory is for North Bay Interior Valleys and San Francisco Bay Shoreline as well as San Francisco County.

Significant rainfall from storms caused flash flooding in parts of Montgomery County, Maryland, located north of Washington, D.C., on Saturday, trapping many in buildings and cars.

On Monday at 9:23 a.m. a flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 1:15 p.m. The warning is for Johnson, Wyandotte, Jackson and Cass counties.
