Gavin Newsom is having a moment. In the national struggle over U.S. House control, perhaps no politician has more at stake than the California governor, who has emerged as the leading Democratic adversary to President Donald Trump.

The California governor's Trump-like social media posts and redistricting push are resonating with Democrats who are eager for a fighter to go on offense against the GOP.

Since mid-August, Newsom’s press office account on X has gone viral for tweeting in a Trump-like style. It has called Newsom "AMERICA’S FAVORITE GOVERNOR," typed in all-caps and issued mocking nicknames for Fox News personalities.

Sacramento veteran political cartographer Paul Mitchell drafted the maps that Californians will vote on in November, which would push more liberal voters into five districts currently held by Republican Reps. Kevin Kiley, Ken Calvert, David Valadao, Doug LaMalfa and Darrell Issa.

It has succeeded insofar as it has Fox News hosts, Trump lackeys, and even the president himself melting down.

Early supporters for the redistricting campaign include Los Angeles businessman Bill Bloomfield, who gave $1 million to Newsom's Ballot Measure Committee, as well as Gloria Page, the mother of Google co-founder Larry Page, who contributed $134,000 to the committee, according to a Thursday afternoon filing .
