Parts of the country could see half a month’s rainfall on Monday as forecasters warn summer storms could bring flash flooding. Heavy, thundery downpours are forecast to hit parts of the UK, with an amber weather warning for rain in place until 8am on Monday for the east of Northern Ireland.

A large thunderstorm warning is in force for large parts of the country until 9pm on Monday. The warning from the Met Office states spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, areas may see power cuts and that there is the chance of flooding in some areas.

Most of the country was blanketed by yellow rain and thunderstorm warnings, with the Met Office saying this could bring flash flooding, power cuts and disruption to travel. But the flooding forecast for London and south-east England on Saturday morning did not occur.
