Alex Palou has become the first driver from Spain to win the Indianapolis 500 by holding off former Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Marcus Ericsson over the closing laps Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Spaniard achieves a historic milestone for Spanish motorsport: the 500 Miles, the great race that was missing from our sport. Alex Palou has made history. The Barcelona native has been crowned the winner of the 2025 Indianapolis 500.

The Indy 500 is always a wild and exciting affair. But the 109th running on Sunday was filled with a lot of chaos and early, ranging from Scott McLaughlin crashing before the race officially started to Marco Andretti crashing four laps in to mayhem on pit road and some scary crashes to the thrilling final laps as Palou took the checkered flag.
