The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee has pledged to follow a Trump administration order banning transgender athletes in an update to its athlete safety policy – falling in line with other groups that have banned transgender individuals from sports competition.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has effectively barred transgender women from competing in women’s sports, telling the federations overseeing swimming, athletics and other sports it has an “obligation to comply” with an executive order issued by President Donald Trump.

Transgender women will no longer be eligible to compete for the United States in the Olympic or Paralympic Games in women's categories, after a recent policy change from the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC).
