NEW YORK — The New York Yankees have placed reliever Fernando Cruz on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, the team announced Thursday morning.

Headrick, 27, gives the Yankees a second lefty in the bullpen after Tim Hill. The club is currently using veteran lefty Ryan Yarbrough as a fifth starter. Veteran lefty reliever Tyler Matzek was designated for assignment earlier this week to make room for Jonathan Loaisiga's activation.
