NFL, Onside Kick
Digest more
NFL owners have approved more changes to the kickoff rule. After changing the yard line where a team starts its drive on a touchback, some other changes were approved. Owners approved allowing onside kicks at any point in a game rather than just in the fourth quarter, although a team must be trailing to be able to do so.
Teams can now declare an onside kick at any point in a game if they are trailing, as opposed to only in the fourth quarter.

SB Nation on MSNNFL rule change brings Buffalo Bills to ‘Hard Knocks’ in 2025The NFL has changed the rules for 2025, modifying the system by which they pick the ‘Hard Knocks’ teams. Previously, if a team made the playoffs the previous season, they were exempted from participating in the behind-the-scenes show. That would have meant no Buffalo Bills in 2025.
