Attorney General Ken Paxton said he is launching an investigation into fraudulent scams that targeted donations for personal use, which were meant to assist rescue operations during the devastating floods that ripped through Central Texas.
As donations were being raised for the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department (CPVFD) in Kerr County, scammers took advantage of the opportunity. They impersonated several payment platforms, deceiving people into transferring donations to them instead of CPVFD.
