The Tigers are coming off a strong effort in the opening game of the series on Monday night. After a few scoreless innings, Detroit jumped out in front in the fourth before exploding for four runs in the following frame. The Tigers added four more runs in the seventh to pull away and grab a 10-0 victory.
The Houston Astros have some star-studded pitching matchups set up for their series against the Detroit Tigers.
First, the Astros signed former Yankees right-hander Enyel De Los Santos. He’d been pitching for the Atlanta Braves and has appeared in 43 games this season, posting a 4.53 ERA with 38 strikeouts.
But the Astros should feel good about facing him as well, and not just because of their recent success. Scherzer is coming off a teres major muscle strain and has not pitched in a game since Sept. 12.
The Houston Astros have been inundated with injuries this season, especially to their underwhelming offense. But Houston may get reinforcements back with Yordan Alvarez's return.

SB Nation on MSNAstros pounced on by the Tigers, lose 10-0 and 2 of 3 by double digits
Taylor Scott replaced Spencer Arrighetti in the bottom of the 6th, but a triple by Trey Sweeney and sac fly by Colt Keith then made it 6-0 anyway. Spencer’s night ended with a stat line of: 7 Hits, 4 walks, 5 K’s, 2 HR’s, and 5 ER’s. (Also now has a 6.94 ERA)
Framber Valdez consistency is going to get him paid well, whether it's with the Houston Astros or another team.
