The Vikings are expected to release veteran Brett Rypien amid Sunday's quarterback shakeup, according to a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. After trading Sam Howell to the Eagles and signing free agent Carson Wentz, Minnesota quarterback room will likely be J.J. McCarthy, Wentz and undrafted rookie Max Brosmer to start the 2025-26 season.

As much as the Gophers prepared him for the future, however, Brosmer still briefly felt like his head was spinning shortly after signing with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent. There was a position meeting early in rookie minicamp, in particular, during which Brosmer vividly remembers being astounded by the way O’Connell talked about the game.

Brosmer, a rookie out of Minnesota (and New Hampshire!), has shown the smarts and processing skills to stick in the NFL for a long time.
