Kent Co. Prosecutor: Jury was split 10-2 in favor of acquittal in Schurr case

Schurr, a former Grand Rapids Police officer, killed Patrick Lyoya, a 27-year-old Congolese immigrant, during a traffic stop in April 2022. The two struggled over Schurr's taser for roughly 2.5 minutes. The ordeal ended when Schurr shot Lyoya in the back of the head. He was charged with second-degree murder.
