Texas Rangers catcher Jonah Heim left Wednesday night's game against the Yankees in the second inning due to a right hand injury after making two errant warmup throws. The Rangers said Heim had a compressed nerve in his throwing hand.

Catching a Ryan Yarbrough changeup off the end of the bat, Heim singled in the second inning before showing visible discomfort in his right hand. He stayed in the game to run the bases, but after attempting a throw down to second base before the next half-inning, he signaled to the dugout he needed to be replaced.

It didn’t take long for the Rangers to suffer a casualty in the cold, wet weather at Yankee Stadium Wednesday. Catcher Jonah Heim left the game in the bottom of the second inning after his flared single appeared to affect his right hand.
