Episode 31 of the ongoing Kilauea eruption ended abruptly at 2:52 a.m. today after more than 12 hours of intense lava fountaining inside Halemaumau crater, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said.
Episode 31 of the ongoing Kilauea eruption began today at 2:04 p.m., and lava could be seen fountaining from the north vent. Initial fountaining was approximately 100 feet high, according to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
