President Trump has suggested that Chicago could be the next city to see federal troops deployed in an effort to crack down on crime, despite the city seeing a significant decline in violent crime during the first half of the year.

The office of Mayor Brandon Johnson said it was working with Illinois' governor and Cook County, home to Chicago, in “evaluating all of our legal options to protect the people of Chicago from unconstitutional federal overreach.
