First, he single handedly changed the outlook in goal for the Kraken from dismal to promising. Seattle ranked last in team save percentage in its inaugural season, then 30th in 2023-24.

Daccord is only the second netminder this season to record a 1st period shutout with 20 or more saves. Seattle did get some late help from the goalie's best friend.

One of his best saves came during the Kraken's debut at the Winter Classic in Seattle vs the Vegas Golden Knights. Daccord's glove save from Vegas' Jack Eichel secured a shut out win over the Knights.

He looked every bit like a starting goalie in the NHL over those 50 games, compiling a record of 19-18-11 with a goals against average of 2.46 and a save percentage of .916%.

The Seattle Kraken have made a splash in free agency, signing goalie Philipp Grubauer to a six-year deal worth $5.9 million annually Wednesday, the team announced.

The Seattle Kraken reached a deal with goaltender Matt Murray on a one-year contract for $1 million to provide veteran depth behind Joey Daccord and Philipp Grubauer.

Goalies are traditionally later bloomers than skaters. Last season with AHL Coachella Valley, Daccord bloomed like the Skagit Valley Tulip Fields. At age 26, he compiled a 26-8-3 regular season.
