Java 7 Update 10, released just last month, introduced security levels on the Security tab of the Java Control Panel. As you can see below, the levels are Low, Medium, High and Very High.

Oracle will release a new version of Java on Tuesday that will include 42 security fixes and will make changes to how Web-based Java content will be presented inside browsers.

Oracle has released Java 7 Update 11 to address the latest Java security flaw. Java 6 was not updated as the bug that has gotten all the attention the last few days was limited to Java version 7.

The company has yet to respond to requests for comment. But this version of Java was first introduced in the summer of 2008 and is woefully insecure and out-of-date.
