Microsoft’s API management service just passed 10 years, 35,000 customers, and 2 million managed APIs. What have we learned, and what’s in store for the future?

The Azure API Management is a managed platform-as-a-service (PaaS) designed to let companies develop and securely manage APIs across hybrid and multicloud computing environments.

Microsoft has purchased Washington, D.C. startup Apiphany, a maker of an application-programming-interface management platform, which it plans to make available as part of Windows Azure.

Azure API Management has such a feature. It allows users to specify a schema for the structure of JSON or XML data that’s expected to be exchanged through the API they deploy.
