It’s all to prepare for the new 341 area code going into effect July 22. The 341 area code joins the 510 area code in the western parts of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

The 510 area code was created in 1991 after splitting off from the 415 region, which covers San Francisco and Marin counties. 510 was split once again in 1998, to pave the way for the 925 area code.
