(Reuters) -U.S. stock index futures steadied on Thursday after a fall in the previous session, when Treasury yields surged, as investors worried President Donald Trump's tax and spending bill could sharply inflate the country's debt burden.

Stocks were choppy Thursday as investors weighed the pros and cons of the Trump administration's new tax bill. One of the three main indexes did manage to close in positive territory thanks to a big rally in tech stocks.

The determination of the administration to continue with tax cuts, come what may, is an expression of one of the most fundamental features of the US economy—the dependence of corporations and finance capital on money from the state.
