A Canadian man was charged with murder in the death of his 9-year-old daughter in upstate New York, authorities said. Her body was found in a shallow pond.

The father of a 9-year-old has been charged with murder in the second degree and concealment of a human corpse after he allegedly murdered his daughter in upstate New York.

Luciano Frattolin said that his daughter had been the victim of a possible abduction in Lake George, N.Y. On Monday, a day after her body was found, he was charged with second-degree murder.

Police sent an alert to people's phones saying Melina Galanis Frattolin was last seen southbound in a white van on I-87 near exit 22 at 9:40 p.m. Saturday.
