England head coach Sarina Wiegman has named the 23 players she believes can retain the European Championship title the country won on home soil in 2022.

Wiegman’s long-time assistant, Arjan Veurink, is to leave after the tournament to take over the Netherlands’ women’s team. Lauren James, England’s most explosive attacking player, was a doubt to be among the selected 23 because of a hamstring injury.

Sarina Wiegman insists England have “moved on” from the shock departures of Mary Earps and Millie Bright as she laughed off accusations of a crisis in the camp.
