Former NFL player and ESPN analyst Booger McFarland believes that Pittsburgh Steelers defensive stars like T.J. Watt and Cam Heyward should consider holding out if Mason Rudolph is the starting quarterback. With no certain decision yet from Aaron Rodgers, Rudolph would seem like the next likeliest option to be a starter for the team.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a rough stretch of quarterback play since Ben Roethlisberger retired. In each season since, they have had a different Week 1 starter, and will continue that trend in 2025. Mitch Trubisky started in 2022, Kenny Pickett in 2023, and Justin Fields in 2024.

Rudolph, who may end up becoming teammates with Rodgers if the four-time league MVP does decide to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, recently shared his first interaction with the future Hall of Fame quarterback, which took place after a Steelers-Packers preseason game back in 2018, Rudolph's rookie season.
