This year, like all years, the month of May at Indianapolis culminates in the 109th edition of the Indianapolis 500, the signature race for the NTT IndyCar Series and a motorsports institution well beyond the state of Indiana.
The famed “Month of May” concludes with the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500. Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden is aiming to become the first driver ever to win three consecutive Indy 500s, but to do so, he’ll have to do it from the final row of the grid.

For the second consecutive year, a bid by Kyle Larson to race the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day is on hold. As of 1:05 p.m. ET, a light rain at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was delaying the start of the 109th Indy 500.
Race officials delayed the start of the 2025 Indy 500 with a light shower in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway area. It's nothing like in 2024, when a storm struck shortly after noon and delayed the race start for 4 hours.
