The Tigers acquired Drew Sommers from Tampa in February and he quickly ascended from Double-A to Triple-A in May before getting the call Thursday.

Detroit Tigers reliever Drew Sommers has been called up from Triple-A Toledo for his MLB debut. He posted a 3.31 ERA with the Mud Hens in 2025.

Sommers has pitched quite well in the Tigers' minor league system this year. The southpaw reliever holds a 2.53 ERA across 57 innings pitched. Sommers has struck out 63 batters and has given up just 16 walks, with an opponents' batting average against less than .200 and a WHIP under one.
