ST. LOUIS – The Detroit Tigers hadn’t lost a series opener since Houston back in late April. They were 13-2 coming into their three-game series with the Cardinals. Now they’re 13-3, mostly thanks to Sonny Gray, who apparently likes to pitch against the Tigers, and stifled them as St. Louis won 11-4.

Victor Scott II looks like a contender for a Gold Glove Award in center while sparking a surprisingly dynamic offense.

The Cardinals were lifted to a 1-0 win over the Royals after strong pitching and defense were backed by Jordan Walker's solo homer. Coming off what he called one of the top three or four worst starts of his career, the right-hander had one of his best as a Cardinal.
