Elly De La Cruz and Andrew Abbott will represent the Cincinnati Reds at next week's MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta after Abbott's selection Tuesday.

Cincinnati Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott is an All-Star after all. Abbott, who’s 7-1 with a 2.15 ERA in 15 starts has been named as a replacement for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Abbott said after his teammates congratulated him, he went into the clubhouse and texted his parents, who were in the stands, that he was headed to next week’s All-Star Game in Atlanta. He told them not to share the news until 8 p.m., when Major League Baseball was scheduled to announce the news, along with two more replacements.
