Illegal fireworks sparked 80 fires across Bakersfield on the Fourth of July, with crews responding to one every five minutes.
“Other fireworks that explode, go into the air or move on the ground in an uncontrollable manner” are also considered illegal, according to the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services.
The Fire Department, around 10:40 p.m., said it responded to a fire at a 2-story duplex on the 1600 block of 78th Avenue.
