Thousands gathered in Daley Plaza and in suburban events in protests timed to coincide with a military parade in Washington celebrating the Army's 250th anniversary and President Donald Trump's 79th birthday.
Organizers of the “No Kings” demonstrations said millions had marched in hundreds of events. In Oregon, tens of thousands of people gathered in downtown Portland for two large protests -- one that began in Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the other at the Oregon Convention Center.
After complaints from farm and hotel owners, Trump said he may halt ICE raids in those industries. If he does, experts say he will struggle to meet his goal of 3,000 detentions a day.
Part of a network of nationwide protest, the "No Kings" protest in Memphis drew thousands of peaceful protesters from around the area.

Police fired tear gas at protesters in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday to clear streets of protesters. Protesters attempted to block the street using the barricades, but flash bangs and tear gas went off as police closed in.
Protests against immigration enforcement have rippled across the country.
